Turn Back Time Contest

Greetings Denizens of FantasyLegends!

The new year 2017 has officially begun. And, as so often happens when a new year begins, many of us tend to reflect on the yesteryear, the years that came before now. Some simply reflect on 2016, and others 2015 or 2014; comparing what could have been done differently or what would have made them better compared to the blank slate that 2017 brings. Globalization helps us view the world in the technological age where we can share different views and hopes on where the new year will take us, and perchance to wonder what things would have been like way back then.

For the new contest, that's exactly what will happen. The title of the contest, "Turn Back Time", implies a trip to the past, and you will have to pick a time in the past to reflect on. But here's the catch: You need to place in the Past a characteristic from the Present.

Can you imagine the leaps and bounds societal gossip would have made in Victorian England if every lord and lady were equipped with their very own Facebook page? How many views would there be if there were a LiveStream of the gladiator fights at the Circus Maximus in Rome? What if Nicola Tesla had a Do-It-Yourself channel on YouTube...and how many subscribers would he get? Give Cleopatra a smart phone and how many selfies and status updates to you think she'd take and make per day? Picasso and Van Gogh with their own DA pages? Suppose Imperialist Japan instead of planes used drones to attack Pearl Harbor?

There are about a hundred or so different gadgets and tools and cultural quirks from the Present that, if applied to the Past, would make world history look very different. That is your task for this contest. Turn back Time, but while your there, make it seem like you never left the Here and Now.

Rules

1.) Must be a Member of FantasyLegends

2.) Only One entry per member.

3.) Entries must depict an era in past history (preferably before the year 2000) applied with an element from the present or more recent history (after the year 2001). Use your imagination to the fullest to depict this juxtaposition. Examples are in the description above, but feel free to make your own judgments.

4.) Entries may be made using any and all mediums: traditional, digital, artisan, literature, etc.

5.) Entries must be made for the contest; older entries will be Declined.

6.) Entries Must A.) Comply with DA Policy regarding Mature Content, and B.) Not be deliberately derogatory or defamatory toward
any race, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation.

7.) Entries must be made between January 5, 2017 and February 2, 2017. Submit to the Folder titled "Turn Back Time Contest" in the main gallery at the Bottom of the list.
